Update Aug 18 – We cancelled this program due to lack of interest.  See you next summer!

Good day Thornhill Baseball families

Given York Region’s recent move from stage 2 to stage 3, Thornhill Baseball is planning to run a 3-week academy for interested players. Below are the key details:

#1) Program

Dedicated groups with no more than 20 players. The same 20 players will play together for the entire Academy Program. Each week players will both practice key skills and play an exhibition game.

#2) Dates:

3 Weeks, twice per week – The Week of Aug 17th, 24th and 31st

#3) Days of the Week:

Mosquito & Pee Wee – Ages 10, 11, 12 & 13 – Monday and Wednesday – 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Senior Rookie – Ages 8 & 9 – Tuesday & Thurs – 6:30 – 8:30 pm

#4) Location:

All academy sessions will be run at Bayview Reservoir Field (Bayview and south of the 407) due to access to electricity to run the pitching machine and ample space to maintain distancing.

#5) Coaching:

Each academy will be run by a paid Thornhill Baseball Instructor/Coach. In addition, we are looking to have 4 parent volunteers to support assume instructional roles in Training and COVID protocols.

#6) Key COVID-19 Protocols:

Consistent with guidelines outlined by the Province and the protocols developed by Baseball Ontario, each session will: A) Require social distancing; B) Require cleaning of shared equipment; C) Require kids to clean their hands regularly before, during and after each session, etc. To this end, all players who attend are required to have their own glove, water bottle & helmet. For a complete summary of the Baseball Ontario protocols that will be followed, please click here.

Cost: $100/per participant. With each registration, the player will receive a Thornhill Baseball hat. Note, we need a minimum of 15 participants per division to make the program and games viable.

For those who are interested in the above, please register via this link no later than August 13th.

If you have any questions, please email Thornhill Baseball at our contact page

With regards,
Chris McNeil, VP of House League

Hi, no plan for Bantam level players?

Sorry, unfortunately no. It was a hard decision to limit the ages but these clinics are specifically suited for this age group and we want to make sure we don’t have a large gap in age. Sorry again for any inconvenience. Hope to see you next year.

Men’s league was limited to 4 teams this year as there was reduced interest. Sorry for any inconvenience.
